At Home on the Water

I’m surprisingly ok with the new normal that’s slowly emerging. My introvert self is content without brunches, bars and busy. But I miss the water like mad. Beaches, pools and parks have been closed since mid-March, and I realize that all the things I love most about this place revolve around water: Swimming laps solo, outdoors and year-round; paddling with my teammates; kayaking and paddle boarding in the mangroves; family swims and beach days; watching water intersect with architecture at the Louvre. This isn’t the first time I’ve relied on water for therapy of both body and mind, but it’s played a huge role this year in adjusting to a new life across the world. I’m eagerly awaiting the day we can sink back in.
